The value of work is not determined by what we do but who we work for and whose power we have to do the job. This summarises the wisdom of God’s revelation. First of all, we do not work to provide for our family but we work for God who releases intellectual and physical powers. If you are unemployed do not avoid work for which you will get no pay because work forms your character. Employers seek people who enjoy working. If you are unemployed and do not work you will not find a good joy easily. The New Testament gives us clear directions: do not return to idleness.
